Angels in the Architecture

I have been working with Marjorie Guyon, the conceptual artist behind the I Was Here project on a new way to put murals into public space to honor the African Americans who cofounded our country.

In this video we share a way to expand the I Was Here project through the use of dichroic sculptures that transform murals throughout the day with colored projection. The moving effects as the sun crosses the sky reference halos on religious icons and illuminated manuscripts.

As with all our projects we are thinking spiritually and practically at the same time. The moving colored light transforms the murals at different times of day and makes them more dynamic in their urban settings. On a practical side there are no moving parts other than the sun, black and white mural paint lasts much longer that colored paint, and the dichroic sculptures at ground level provide shade and create photo opportunities.
